I painted two versions of this bird. He wanted the roadkill, I wanted to get pictures of him. Having a stand-off, we compromised. He gave me photo ops, then I went away and he got the coyote.

When farming in SE Arizona, the cranes landed by the hundreds to glean the harvested corn fields.
